Molding and Casting
Hi,
I went through your molding and casting documentation and generally everything was well done. Here are a couple of comments:
• Linked to the group assignment page and reflected on your individual page what you have learned. Group work link in the beginning is broken and the group work site is unfinished. o Smooth-Sil -> Smooth-Sil 940 (We also have the Smooth-Sil 936 in the lab). o Safety – Use in a properly ventilated area (“room size” ventilation). Wear safety glasses, long sleeves and rubber gloves to minimize contamination risk. Wear vinyl gloves only. Latex gloves will inhibit the cure of the rubber. • Reviewed the safety data sheets for each of your molding and casting materials, then made and compared test casts with each of them • Documented how you designed your 3D mold and created your rough and finish toolpaths for machining, including machine settings. Machine settings for blue wax are missing. Otherwise ok. • Shown how you made your mold and cast the parts. OK • Described problems and how you fixed them. OK; • Included your design files and ‘hero shot’ of the mold and the final object. OK
