Computer controlled machining, Make something big
Hi all,
We have Make something big week on week 10 (starting wed 8.3.). We have local lectres on thursday 9.3. morning 10-12 and you have possibility to mill your work right away at thursday afternoon. Also Friday is reserved for millings. So what you need to do is think what you want to do as an advance and make a 3D design of it. We could make toolpaths etc. quick after lectures if your 3D model is ready.
Assignment is: group assignment do your lab's safety training test runout, alignment, fixturing, speeds, feeds, materials, and toolpaths for your machine individual assignment make (design+mill+assemble) something big (~meter-scale) extra credit: don't use fasteners or glue extra credit: include curved surfaces
Group assignment we make during local lectures and meter-scale of individual assignment mean that at least one dimension of your design need to be a 1 meter long. All of you have one 11mm thick OSB-board which dimensions are 1,2m x 2,3m so your design should fit on that board. There is also couple videos (which you should watch as an advanvce) for making toolpaths and using the machine in OneDrive.
