Evaluation of 3D Printing and Scanning Assignment
Hi Antero,
You've got eventually a very good result for the 3D scanning task after a few attempts. Your 3D printed object seems also interesting and you have already motivated why it cannot be made subtrctively. However, you need to improve your document a bit. In the following, I've provided you with some feedback to do so.
3D SCANNING
- Write the steps that you took to work with the makerbot digitizer 3D scanner. For example, placing the object on the platform, connecting to the program, working with the software, the duration of the scan (I think it was 9 minutes), and etc.
3D DESIGNING and PRINTING
- If you have already provided explanation of the 3D designing of the ball during the other weekly assignments, add a link to the assignment. If not, write more details about the design steps; for example:
- How did you create a sphere, extrude it, split it, and put a cylinder inside it?
- How the shaft and the extension were added to the design?
- How the edge around the equator is rounded?
- How the extension at the top of the shaft is rounded?
- If you remember, mention how long did it take for the ball to be 3D printed?
- What material did you use for 3D printing? PLA?
- Did you need to go through any post-processing (e.g., support removal)? You mention you removed the support. But you need to explain how did you remove the support? By hand? Was it easy?
FILES
- In addition to .f3d file, please add .stl file of the 3D printed ball.
- Keep only the Vase binary stl file and remove Vase thing file and Vase ascii stl file.
TYPO
- I also leart what kind of items cannot be easily manufactured by substractive methods.
