Stuck with DIY Slip Ring using Bearings
Greetings, I am trying to make a 3 wire slip ring using 6203-2RS bearings for my final project.I got the idea from here and came up with the following design.
But now the Inner ring and the balls inside the bearing are always in contact but the outer ring is not getting contact most of the time. I already de-greased the insides, which made it a little better but it is still nowhere near to pass a signal through. So basically the inner and outer rings of the bearings are not always in contact as I assumed it would be. It's not the grease that's coming in between them, since I already degreased it and it's having almost the same results.
I had divided my motor assembly, electronics and the coupler/slip ring into separate spirals and everything had been progressing well but I am completely stuck with the slip ring as I would have to change the motor assembly and base as well if I have to switch to using a 3.5jack to pass the signals instead of a slip ring using bearings.
At this stage, what should be my options? Redesign this portion using a 3.5 jack instead? Or try to make some conductive grease using graphite powder and wax. Should that help with the conductivity issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
