UV Desinfection DEvices
I have read that UV lights could be used to disinfect spaces and objects from viruses, and has been used for COVID-19 too:
- PUBLIC TRANSPORT
- PHONES
- There is a backdrop about using it in people, but check this paper
I don't know how efficient it is right now, but there is an obvious potential. In Indonesia, a team working with the ministry of health is going to test and pilot zones for disinfection, building chambers for people, clothing, and objects. They will do chemical disinfection, and I have been proposing to try UV light in one of the pilots, which drove to another idea: what if these could be used to clean up cars, public transport, devices, and clothing at low cost? If there is a shortage, then DIGIKEY UV LEDs could be shipped to labs. We could even test it for cleaning Fab Labs, the challenge is to get it verified and then certified. Fab Labs could become hubs for disinfection, at least for devices?
Amazon is out of stock of a lot of UV lamps
This could be an efficient and rapid way to sanitize certain items, people can be washed with soap and alcohol, certain spaces and objects are more difficult.
I am far from my lab but can contribute to research and connections. Anyone has more information to share?
