Feedback from a hospital
My wife is a nurse in the emergency room of a hospital in France, and collected feedback from colleagues on some of the things that are being made -
Facemasks
- need to be curved, flat ones are quite useless
- its important you are able to pivot them (i.e. 'flip them up') to clean them while working (i.e. wipe off condensation etc from the inside).
- are often cleaned with bleach (or something similar) so if 3D printed they need to withstand that without dissolving ( = chlorine, so no PLA for instance...)
Respirator Adaptors for Decatlon masks (this seems to have been popularized by some Italian medical professionals)
- now way to extract fluids from a patient, which is problematic
- no way to pass any tubing that needs to go to the mouth
- cleaning (same issue are with the masks)
If this is interesting, let me know, she can offer (and collect) much more feedback (and note this is all meant positively, all these efforts are awesome!)
And she's sewing facemasks for now, if anyone needs patterns or the technique for that, same, just ping me.
