3. Computer Controlled Cutting
This week I tried several 2D and 3D designing programs to find the ones that suit me best.
My journey
At first I had to catch up on the first week so I worked on the website (design and content). After finishing the biggest part of it I tried several the Onshape, Freecad and Inkscape programs for 2D and 3D designing (I'm already familiar with Illustrator and Autocad).
Group project
We designed some pieces in Inkscape and/or Fusion 3D to try out the laser cutter and understand the paramters that are important to keep in mind.

Individual project : parametric construction kit
Despite the fact that I previously learned how to calculate the kerf and how to design a 3D object, I chose to use 2 websites to help me create the boxes I wanted to cut on the laser cutter for this assignment. Simple reasons : saving time and brain energy as it isn't easy for me.

I chose to work on a basic box as it will be the base form for my final project. By already cutting it in a smaller size in this assignment, I can have a first idea of the possibilities of construction.
Individual project : vinyl cutting
To use the vinyl cutter, I vectorised the Fab Academy logo and placed it on my notebook.
I measured the place on the notebook for the logo and made sure to adjust the vectorised file in Inkscape to fit in.
After saving the file in .pdf format, I opened it in the vinyl cutter program, "Summa GoSign".
This vinyl cutter machine is a ".." and is interesting as his blade is a ... one.
Using this vinyl cutting machine is really easy.

My Project
As I said earlier, I took advantage of this week's assignment to cut the basic parts of my "pet house" project.
This helped me see and think about the parameters I have to take in consideration and what difficulties I can meet.
