Evaluation of Your Assignment for Computer_Controlled Cutting Week
"At this week’s local lecture I learnt basic laser cutting operation procedure" --> Typo: learned
PARAMETRIC DESIGN
-
" I desided to sketch something fairly simple" --> Typo: Decided -
Typo: replace coinsident with coincident
-
"Here I used parameters to define the dimensions of the object. modify >> change parameters"Here explain about the parameters in the text.Explain how you accounted for kerf in your design. I only see that you have defined a parameter named kerf, but I do not see how you used it. I also do not see where you used 'thickness' parameter that you have defined.Usually 'thickness' and 'kerf' parameters are used for defining the 'slot width' as: 'thickness - kerf' AND for the 'tab width' as: 'thickness + kerf'! In your case considering your design, normally you should have a parameter for slot width with the value of 'thickness - kerf'. In this way, when you change the value for either 'thickness' or 'kerf' parameters, all of the slots in your design change accordingly. This is the most basic feature of parametric design for designing a press-fit construction kit.

"to make it easier to assebly parts together." --> Typo: assemble -
"I used Adobe Illustrator to modify the pdf file so it can be laser cut." --> Explain how you prepared your design for laser cutting. -
"so I desided to use that at least for now instead of Inkscape." --> Typo: decided -
Please upload the.f3d file for your parametric design. After checking that, I will complete the evaluation for your parametric design. So I recommend uploading your file as soon as possible, so that you can find enough time if some changes are needed. -
Design files:Add .f3d file. After changing the line width in Adobe Illustrator, save it as pdf and upload that final pdf file.Remove constructionkit_laserfile.svg
I like the way that you have documented your the design stages. It is easy to follow and thorough.
LASER CUTTING
Write about safety instructions for working with the laser cutter.
VINYL CUTTING
"I desided to cut our swimming club’s logo using vinyl." --> Typo: decided- "STEP1: I started by modifying the pdf logo file with Adobe Illustrator. I deleted some extra lines to make it possible to cut."
- Explain how did you modify the pdf file? which tools did you use?
- Name the tool that you used for cutting the extra lines and also write down the path that you accessed the tool.
- Explain how did you modify the pdf file? which tools did you use?
-
"then I adjusted the starting point of the cut."* How did you adjust the origin? Any adjustment with vinyl cutter software Summa Winplot? If yes, please write it down.Explain more about how you worked with the vinyl cutter, e.g., positioning the pinch rollers, loading and aligning the material, adjustments via the control panel itself and etc.-
"STEP3: After the cut I removed all extra vinyl so that only the actual logo remained."* How did you remove extra parts? Which tool(s) did you use? Write the model of Summa vinyl cutter that you worked with.-
" I’m not quite sure if this is the right way for the svg files though since you don’t get to download them but instead they open in new tab as a picture?"It is OK. I could download them by right click >> save link as
